Being Humble & Kind

Being kind is a trait that other people are attracted to and admire, but even more important than that is the personal peace & joy that you will feel. Focusing on being kind is less stressful than the alternative for sure. But, kindness is only received as genuine when the person is humble as well. 

What are some ways to be humble and kind?

  • Gratitude

Gratitude prevents pride from taking over. No one enjoys a prideful person. So, be thankful for at least one thing every day.  Each night before you go to sleep, think about your day and list the things that have happened that you are grateful for.  The bonus is that you will be thinking positive thoughts as you drift off to sleep instead of things that might stress you out. 

  •  Having a sense of humor

 The saying “laughter is the best medicine” is popular for a reason. If you find that you can’t let yourself get silly and laugh out loud, you are probably too serious. Lighten up and enjoy yourself!

  • Listen more than speak

Show people you truly care by actually listening to what they are saying. Ask the person you are listing to questions to show that you are paying attention to their every word. Often this is what the other person needs even more than your advice. 

  •  Put others first

When you think of others before yourself, you feel the satisfaction that true kindness brings.  Seeing someone else find happiness because of your thoughtfulness is absolutely worth the effort. 

  • Smile 

Smile at a stranger and see what happens. ♥
